The Nissi Care Group of Houston, TX, USA is 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide healthcare and spiritual ministry to those in need while sharing the love of Jesus, in Jamaica and other countries of the Caribbean. Our ultimate goal is to bring all to Jesus. By ministering to physical needs, our team has the opportunity to minister to the spiritual needs thus fulfilling the Great Commission, “…go and make disciples of all nations…” Matthew 28:19-20. We accomplish this by conducting health clinics over 5 days utilizing the services of healthcare professionals from the USA and other countries, as well as local pastors, healthcare professionals and churches.
During our 2018 trip, we had the opportunity to provide healthcare and share the Gospel with the 325 men, women, and children who came for medical care. We saw 200 women, 92 men, and 33 children. The most common complaint among the adults was hypertension, with some numbers as high as 222/126. Patients were educated about hypertension, diabetes, and stroke, the three most prevalent diagnoses we identified. Other diagnoses included allergy, pain, and GERD. Several patients were seen by a local optometrist and over 60 reading glasses were distributed. 126 accepted Christ for the first time and 36 rededicated their life to Christ.
Approved by Jamaica’s Ministry of Health, Nissi has been annually providing free medical services and medications to some of the neediest Jamaicans since 2013, primarily in Portland and St. Thomas, Jamaica. In 2018, Nissi will hold it’s first mission in North St. Elizabeth (Siloah, Appleton, Santa Cruz), with a goal to extend these services to other areas of the Caribbean. Nissi also conducts educational missions by providing summer school to elementary students of the Belle Castle Primary School.
